Sunset Town sits at An Thới, right at the southern tip of Phú Quốc, a good distance from the island's centre of gravity up north. From the Dương Đông town area and the main northern resort strip it's roughly 30–40 minutes by car or taxi in normal traffic; from the very top of the island it can be over an hour. It's a real trip down, so the show works best as part of an evening — or a day — already spent at the southern end, not a special dash for 30 minutes.
The cable-car pairing
The neatest way to justify the journey is the Hòn Thơm cable car, whose mainland station is right at Sunset Town. Billed as the world's longest sea-crossing cable car, it's a daytime attraction in its own right, and riding it, spending the afternoon around the southern beaches or Hòn Thơm island, and staying on for the evening and the show turns a long drive into a full day rather than a there-and-back errand.
Getting down and back
Taxis and ride-hailing both work on Phú Quốc, and many hotels can arrange a car. The catch is the return: the moment the fireworks finish, a big crowd tries to leave Sunset Town at once and rides get scarce. Booking a car for the evening, or at least having a plan for the trip back rather than hoping to flag something down on the promenade, saves the one genuine headache of the night.
Timing dinner and the show
The show runs to a fixed slot around 7:30 to 8:05 PM, and Sunset Town's restaurants fill up beforehand. The relaxed play is to either eat early and be at the viewing area in good time, or hold dinner until after the fireworks when the promenade quietens. Trying to squeeze a sit-down meal into the half hour right before showtime is how people end up rushing or missing the opening.
What to bring
It's a warm, open-air seaside evening, so pack light: something for a sea breeze, and a rain layer in the wet season when a short shower is possible. Bring a phone or camera for the fireworks and stunts, though the show is short, so it's worth watching some of it with your own eyes rather than through a screen. If you're sitting in the ticketed area, your booking confirmation is all you need on arrival.
